Though I am an Anglo-Catholic, I find many resources to help me. This Bible, the Orthodox Study Bible was given to me last year and I find it most helpful to really grasp some of the passages in it. It's a fine Bible and sits on my prayer altar here at home. You'll see, also, my Franciscan Office Book. It's a fantastic prayer book to pray the offices of the day.
An excerpt from the Orthodox Study Bible of John 3.8, which reads: "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." The Orthodox Study Bible's commentary on this passage reads: "A play on words: The Greek word pneuma means both wind and Spirit. The working of the Holy Spirit in the new birth is as mysterious as the source and destination of the blowing wind. Likewise, the Spirit moves where He wills and cannot be contained by human ideas or agendas." Forgiven much, Tamara Jack Check out my 90 lb. Weight Loss Journey with Weight Watchers HERE!
